Is it common for female doctors to examine male patients without another nurse present? Is there a difference in protocol for nurses and physician assistants?

Though it is not common female doctors can examine male patients unless the patient insists on having a male doctor. When examining a male patient a female doctor does not need a chaperon. Even if female patients agree to be examined by male doctors it is proper to have a chaperon. I always have a nurse or a female relative of the patient in the room when examining a female patient even if the examination does not involve exposure of her intimate parts.
